Gourmand and food lovers will love this post. September and October are a must in Italy if you love mushrooms and especially truffles. Italian truffles are almost the best in the world and the international auctions (a real defy among the most famous restaurants in the world) are a real experience.
Truffles can be white and black; the difference is quite clear not only in the external color but also in the smell and taste. The white one is also the most precious. Produce in the Northern Italy (Piedmont) they are very similar to mushrooms just because they use the same growing conditions: deep woods of oaks, humidity and a little warm, some water and finally a couple of nice dogs that discover them.

Truffle eating is an emotional experience: on the handmade pasta, on scrambled eggs, on risotto. Smell will catch your nose even if it will not be so pleasant at the beginning. Be confident and keep on tasting.
Some specialized tour operator even organize truffle-hunting trips: some days before the fair, you can go with professional hunters and their dogs (the Lagotti) to search and find your own truffle.

Fiera Internazionale del Tartufo Bianco d’Alba
The Alba White Truffle (Tuber magnatum Pico) is unanimously considered the best in the world, and the annual meeting that concerns him is undoubtedly the most anticipated in Italy.
La Fiera Internazionale del Tartufo Bianco d’Alba hosts several events that affect other local products, such as the high quality of Piedmont Hazelnuts IGP or the excellent wines DOC and DOCG Piedmont.
National Truffle Fair “Trifola d’Or”
This trade fair, also known as the National Truffle Fair of Murisengo, took place for the first time in 1967 and since then has been an important reference point for gourmets Alexandrian (and not only). On the occasion of this exhibition are offered to visitors many opportunities to become better acquainted with the truffles produced locally and other typical of the area.
At the ancient town of Murisengo are set up numerous food stands that are juxtaposed with those of typical Piedmontese. Of course, the undisputed star of the show is the truffle, or rather the two finest varieties that are collected here:
Truffle Fair of Moncalvo
This important annual event dedicated to the truffle takes place in Moncalvo, a town located in the heart of Monferrato, and has a history of more than half a century.
During the event are scheduled numerous events, many of which are designed to actively engage its audience, such as demonstrations of simulated search of truffles.
For seekers and professionals we report instead the allocation of areas Trophies City of Moncalvo “Tartufo d’Oro” and “Zappino d’Oro”. A corollary of the Fiera del Tartufo also no shortage of exhibitors with their local produce, wine tasting and musical entertainment.
National Fair of the White Truffle of Sant’Agata Feltria
Sant’Agata Feltria, in the province of Rimini, annually hosts an exhibition dedicated entirely to the prized white truffle (Tuber magnatum) whose collection is an ancient tradition.
The event takes place in autumn and attracts music lovers and gourmets who come here not only to discover and taste the truffles, but also other typical local products such as honey, mushrooms, chestnuts, cheeses, meats and much more.
National Exhibition “Il Tartufo Bianco”
The beautiful Città di Castello, in the province of Perugia, houses an important exhibition market.This event has a lot to offer both visitors to the insiders, for example in its large section devoted entirely to the sale of the prized fungus. The white truffle Upper Tiber Valley is also celebrated through educational workshops and tastings of local dishes.
